Migrating away from the US tech I use

Why am I doing this.

  1. Because of the outrageous behaviour of the Trump administration, some american citizens are advocating stopping consumption of big tech goods and services. I want to suport that trend. Big tech refers to the top 6 tech companies: Google, Amazon, Meta, Apple, Microsoft, and Nvidia.
  2. I want to move away from companies engaged in Surveillance Capitalism. The two most blatently engaged in this type of surveillance are Meta, and Google.

AWS S3 and cloudshare

I switched to: Bunny.net for both storage and CDN

I moved 3 static web sites to bunny.net.

Bunny.net jurisdiction overview

Steps I took to migrate to Bunny.net

Google Chrome, google search engine, google AI (gemini), google translate

Google is the worst offender with respect to Surveillance Capitalism.

I switched to: Mozilla Firefox and Thor, duckduckgo search, Claude AI, and Claude AI for translation

I use Mozilla Firefox for day to day use and Thor for high privacy.

Another option for translation is DeepL.com.
