Google Translate Advice

How to improve translations

  • The quality of translation goes up a lot when you supply a full sentence at a time. The script I am using translates one line at a time. So when you are composing lines for your article try to keep sentences on a single line.
  • Our translation script parsing of links and linkreferences only deals properly with links that are encloded in back quotes. So although reStructuredText permits cases without backquotes it is better to always use them when composing articles for this blog.
  • A translated title string may be longer than the original and this may cause the title to exceed the underline length. To avoid this issue underline all your titles with extra long strings.

Translation script bugs

  • the google translate function iteself or our script that invokes it has a problem with LT and GT characters. So try to avoid them if you can. They seem to undermine the translation results.
